The Wilcox house has a collection of furry friends, as I’m a sucker for a cute, fuzzy face. We have 2 dogs & 3 cats. Our Border Collie/Pointer mix, Indy is 3 years old now and our Beagle mix, Nolan is 14. There are 3 cats, ipod, Lupin, and Oscar. Ipod is my world all wrapped up in a tiny bundle of white fur. I realize this makes me a crazy cat lady & I’ve come to accept it. -Katie Cook Wilcox, MI

We rescued & raised some baby quail that were abandoned after being hatched in one of our planters. When they were about 6 weeks old, only 2 had survived. We let them go in our yard, hoping they might find a covey and go back to the wild. Although, they have adapted quite nicely to the wild life, they continue to hang out with us, every morning and every evening. They especially love their doggy brothers, Cooper and Baily! - Rondi Kutz, AZ

Maizey loves her daily walks and finding sticks to chew on. She loves to play with the neighbor’s labs, but most of the time they are just annoyed with her energy. -Karen Twichell, MI

Bailey is a 4 month old Goldendoodle. Her mother was an English Golden Retriever and her father was a Standard Poodle. The three cats (Cody, Macintosh, and Maddy) in the Felstow family have not yet accepted Bailey into the family. The fact that she likes to sit on the cats may be a factor. The Goldendoodle is not a purebred, it is considered a hybrid, and consequently it is not recognized by the American and United Kennel Clubs. It is recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club and was first developed in the late 1990’s. The Goldendoddle is very family and kid friendly, does not shed, and is hypoallergenic (and likes to sit on cats). -Rick Felstow, MI
Lucy is a 7 year old German Shorthaired Pointer. She loves taking naps, running in the field behind our house, eating cheese, playing with her toys and sitting next to the highchair waiting for our 10 month old daughter to feed her at dinner! -Jennifer McArthur, MI

Here are some of our horses. Even though they are a lot of work, I love being able to spend time in the barn with them, smelling the hay and listening to them chew. It is very relaxing. My daughter competes in rodeos and we love to trail ride and camp with the horses. -Deb Dyer, MI

We adopted both of our cats from the Cascades Humane Society in Jackson. They were abandoned together so we didn’t have the heart to separate them. Panoz is very affectionate and loves to be petted. She likes to run around the house, but she has so much fur between her toes and feet that she slides across the kitchen linoleum. She will lie on your lap for as long as you let her. Panoz is named after a car manufacturer in Georgia who makes race cars for the American Le Mans Series as well as street cars. Check it out: www.panozauto.com.
Lola tends to be a loner but is also affectionate when she wants to be. She likes to chase Panoz. Even though she is smaller she tends to be the boss. Unlike Panoz, she can’t sit in one spot for very long. She spins about 3-4 times before she actually sits down. Lola hides from company so she’s usually under the bed before the door bell rings and won’t come out for anything until the “intruders” are gone. Lola is also named after a race car manufacturer who makes custom race cars. wwwlolacars.com.

My 22-lb cat, known simply as Q. Cats were once worshipped as gods by the ancient Egyptians…. cats have never forgotten this, and as the character of Q was a demigod on the series Star Trek: The Next Generation, the name simply fit. Q is now 16 years old and has been my comfort and bestest buddy. He loves to go outside and play with the bugs and critters who come visit, like Daddy Longlegs and Secret Squirrel. -Beth Horner, MI

My name is Smokey. I am 5 years old and live with my wonderful mommy, Priscilla. She knows that I am a princess and treats me accordingly. I like taking naps and laying in the sun on the windowsill. People tend to bother me, so I prefer to hide under the bed when company is around. I have my mom wrapped around my little paw and she loves on me whenever I want her to. I am the best kitty in the entire world! -Priscilla Riley, MI
