Decor Projects Using Flea Market

J over at Seven Sisters incorporated some of the Flea Market products (currently available at JoAnn Fabric and Craft Larger Superstores) into several recent projects she completed and you won't believe how adorable it looks!  It's amazing how many different applications she has found for this collection like sprucing up her kitchen, a gift for a soon-to-be mom and a little storage crate.  Check out the photos below and click here to see her inspiration and read her original post.

father's day project

so father's day will be a bit different this year with ryan deployed, but he still needs a handmade present from the girls.

Colorbök has some really good kid craft kits and one of them is the precious plate and bowl kits.  

this was a great project!  it was a perfect saturday morning activity for the girls.

the girls are starting to draw these darling little people, and this was an awesome way to capture them!

so we will show ryan this plate on skype, but for the rest of  you, this would be the coolest gift with a yummy daddy's day dinner or a plate full of cookies for dad!

we even colored the back!

Magazine Mentions: Creating Keepsakes May/June 2011

 
We are so excited that this page by Colorbök designer Maria Filar is featured in the May/June issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine!  Maria created this layout using strips of Colorbök fabric available at JoAnn Fabric and Craft Larger Superstores. These fabrics are from the Sweet Blooms collection (designed by Renee) and our Heidi Grace Taking Flight collection.

To use this technique on your own pages, accordion-fold a strip of fabric, using a sewing machine or hot glue to secure the folds. Don't worry about making it perfect - a little unevenness adds to the charm!  To get a more distressed look, try slightly unraveling the edges of your fabric strip before folding.  Use colored staples to attach the strips to your page. Maria used a double layer of fabric as her main embellishment, and a smaller single strip of fabric as an accent.

new stamps!

Colorbök did some really great heidi grace designs stamps that have set in JoAnn Fabric and Craft Larger Superstores...and they are so fun to use.  they are cling stamps, and truly are great quality.

they are simple to use, you just pop them out of the package and stick them to a mount and they are ready.  i had a blast stamping and coloring in these fun icons.

i made a bunch of these little stamped labels, and then i put them on simple little cards.  these would look so cute on scrapbook pages tags, or gift bags too.

stay tuned, i will be doing some more stuff soon with some of our more sophisticated stamps.

Getting Crafty With Stamps!

Last week I got a chance to play with the Cloud 9 Rubber Cling Stamps from JoAnn Fabric and Craft Larger Superstores.  I decided to make some of my own gift wrap using brown kraft paper and the Home stamps.  The vintage keys were perfect to alternate across the paper in white ink.  Tied up with a little peach ribbon and a key accent, someone is going to love this little surprise.

The other project I fashioned using the Pattern stamp on fabric (new to me!).  I ripped a 2 inch strip of natural colored linen and frayed the edges by pulling out some strings.  Then I used one of the stamps to make a line of flourishes from one end to the other.  I sewed two cute buttons to one end of the fabric and then fastened the wrap to the jar using clear double-sided tape.  (The cute flowers made by Renee from Cloud 9 Wild Indigo papers will be a future project so check back!)

baby paisley...she is growing so fast.

here are some cute layouts i did of baby paisley when she was little.  i have been so blown away at how fast she is growing, so it is so nice to see her as a brand new babe.  hope you get some cute ideas!

Spring is in the Air!

Spring is here! It may not feel like it outside, (at least not here in Michigan anyways), but it is that time of year. We are very excited about a new Promotional Program setting this week in Wal-Mart stores across the country. A whole spring program dedicated to paper crafting!

We have SUPER SIZED box kits, and adorable acrylic paint cans filled to the brim with chipboard books, stamps, cards, glitter chipboard and more!

We used the Bright Box Kit to make these scrapbook pages. But, with over 3,000 pieces in each kit (YUP, not a typo....3,000 pieces!)...you can make a variety of projects and probably still have pieces left!

Our (not so) Extreme Kitchen Makeover!

With the arrival of the new season, we've all been busy Spring Cleaning here at Colorbök HQ. After a ton of elbow grease from our product management team, the upstairs kitchen was sparkling clean! Unfortunately, it still lacked any sort of character, warmth or style. The pinky beige walls and worn white cabinets just seemed so blah...

 

The Memory and Craft design team decided it was time to intervene! We wanted to do a quick and cheap makeover to help spruce the place up and make the kitchen a place that inspires creativity! Using extra paint from home and repurposed items from around the office, we created a space that seemed fresh and new.

 

The chevron stripes painted on the cabinets turned them from average to awesome and the taupe brown wall makes the kitchen feel cozy. We created chalk boards from ugly old frames we found tucked away in a closet (It's amazing what a can on white spray paint can do!) and recovered our old chairs in one of the new Woodhaven fabrics. The makeover gives the whole space a much more modern look while also giving us more counter space and making the kitchen much more user friendly.
